The world's first ultra-small surveying and mapping drone "Dimension I" is officially released

2025-03-18

On March 11, 2024, Tianfu Jiangxi Laboratory released the world's first ultra-small mapping drone "Dimension I" designed for complex indoor environments. It marks a major technological breakthrough in my country's special environment intelligent mapping, bringing asset digitalization innovation solutions to energy, municipal administration, construction and other industries.

Innovative design breaks through application boundaries

The product adopts a revolutionary spherical shell and patented anti-collision structure, equipped with four core technologies independently developed, and successfully overcomes the three-dimensional modeling problem of indoor and underground environments without GPS signals. Its compact body design (diameter only XXcm) can easily pass through narrow spaces of 12-18 meters, and the 250-meter vertical operating depth covers most industrial scenarios, reducing the overall cost by 50% compared to traditional mapping solutions.

Core technologies build competitive barriers

- Multi-sensor fusion system achieves ±0.03-meter positioning accuracy

- Original 3DAware flight control system combined with SLAM technology to build centimeter-level 3D models in real time

- Point cloud laser radar cooperates with super-resolution algorithm to improve data processing efficiency by 300%

- Intelligent path planning supports autonomous obstacle avoidance and repositioning in complex environments

Significant commercial application value

According to laboratory calculations, "Dimension I" can shorten the downtime inspection time of industrial equipment by 40% and reduce the risk of high-risk environment operations by 90%. At present, actual measurements have been completed in the fields of energy facility inspection, urban underground pipeline network mapping, and large-scale building BIM modeling. A single flight can generate an engineering-level 3D model that can be directly imported into the CAD system.

"At present, the center has developed the first-generation prototype of Dimension I, which is being iterated and upgraded." Zhang Dedong, deputy director of the Space-Time AI Innovation Center, said that the first-generation prototype of Dimension I can be domestically produced. The center is actively promoting product pilot testing, accelerating industrialization, and continuously expanding application scenarios.
